The no contact app that checks in on you

Unbeatable Heart is a no contact app for iPhone that comes to you. It checks in every day, asks how today was, and suggests what to do next for how you feel. When you're about to text, call or look at their profile, one button walks you through that moment, a slip keeps every milestone you earned, and what you write stays on your phone.

Count your days on the free no contact tracker here, with nothing to sign up for.

Free no contact tracker

Pick the day you last texted, called or messaged them. Your count shows here.

Nothing is saved unless you tick the box. We never see your date.

How the free no contact counter works

  1. Pick the day of your last contact. The last time you texted, called or messaged them. Not sure what counts? The no contact rule explains it.
  2. The next day is day 1. It counts whole days the way the app does, so your number is the same when you download it.
  3. Nothing is saved unless you ask. Tick “Remember on this device” and the date stays in this browser only. We never see it.

It works in any browser, on any phone, Android included. In my community, what I see most often is that counting the days helps people keep going.

If you slip, change the date. It's a hard day, not the end of your progress, and a bad day doesn't send you back to the start. In the app, every milestone you earned stays yours.

What the app does that a counter can't

A number shows how far you've come. The app is there for the hours in between.

It checks in on you

Once a day it asks how today really was, and answers with a reply written for that answer and a next step, like writing it out or reading your red flags. If you allow notifications, it reminds you at the hour you choose, and the reminder never shows how you feel on your lock screen.

Daily check-in

Built for the moment you’re about to text

One button: “I need help right now”. A text or a call goes into Unsent, a thread that never sends. Before you look at their profile, it asks what you hope to find, then waits 90 seconds with you. If you just feel awful, it breathes with you. A crisis line is one tap away, and nothing you tap there is saved. More on what to do instead of texting your ex.

I need help right now

A slip keeps every milestone

It counts from day 1 to 90, with milestones along the way. If you reach out, tap “I reached out”: the count starts again from day 1, and every milestone you earned stays yours. If you beat 14 days once, you beat 14 days forever. Breaking no contact resets a number, not your progress.

What you write stays on your phone

No account, no email, and it works offline. Your journal, your unsent messages and your red flags never leave your phone. The one thing the app counts is which screens get opened, anonymously, and you can switch that off in Settings.

What to look for in a no contact app

A counter is a start. These are the things people say they need from a no contact app, and how this one does each.

  • It helps in the moment you’re about to text, not only after. The “I need help right now” button is on the home screen for exactly that moment.
  • A slip doesn’t wipe out your progress. Reach out and the count starts again, but every milestone you earned stays yours.
  • It checks in without punishing you. One daily check-in and one daily line, only if you allow them. The only count is days without contact, so a day away from the app costs you nothing.
  • You know exactly where your words go. Everything you write stays on your phone, and there is no chatbot reading it.
  • You can try it before you pay. 3 days free, and the price is in our questions before you download.
  • It’s built to help you move on, never to get them back. No tactics, no “make them miss you”. No contact is for you to heal, not for them.
  • It’s honest about what it isn’t. It isn't therapy, and a crisis line is one tap away inside it.

I built the app I needed 11 years ago

11 years ago, a breakup I never saw coming put me in a loop for a month. Old photos. Rereading her letters. Sitting at home, waiting for a message that never came.

Then I saw a photo of her, smiling with friends. She was fine. I had handed someone who was now a stranger control over everything I felt. That was the day I decided to take it back.

Today I'm married, and happier than I've ever been. Not because I found someone, but because I rebuilt myself first.

I've spent the 11 years since learning everything I can about getting over someone:

  • NLP Master Practitioner
  • A community of 60,000 people going through a breakup, for 8 years now
  • The Unbeatable Heart podcast, 125 episodes since 2019
  • 48 articles on this blog

I'm also a software developer, so I built the app myself. Every screen was made for one moment: the one where you're about to text your ex.

I'm not a therapist, and the app isn't therapy. It's 11 years of what I've learned, in something you can hold at 2am.

Questions

No contact apps, answered

Is there a free no contact tracker online?

Yes, this one. The tracker on this page is free, works in any browser and needs no signup or download. The app is a separate thing: 3 days free, then a subscription.

Do you have to pay for the app?

After 3 days free, yes: it's a subscription. The price is in our questions and on the App Store before you download, and you can cancel any time in your Apple ID settings.

How do I track no contact?

Start from the day of your last contact. The next day is day 1, and every day you don't text, call or message them adds one. The no contact rule explains what counts as contact and how long to keep it.

What app can I use to stop texting my ex?

One that helps at the moment you're about to send, not only afterwards. In Unbeatable Heart, “I need help right now” takes the text into Unsent, a thread that never delivers. Blocking or muting their number helps too: here's how to stop texting your ex.

What happens if I break no contact?

On this counter, change the date to the day you reached out. In the app, tap “I reached out”: the count starts again from day 1, and every milestone you earned stays yours. A slip is a hard day, not the end of your progress. Here's what to do after you break no contact.

Is there a no contact app for Android?

Unbeatable Heart is on iPhone only for now. This counter works in any browser, so you can use it on Android tonight.

Is my data private?

The counter keeps your date only if you tick the box, and only in this browser. We never see it. In the app, what you write stays on your phone and there is no account. The app counts which screens get opened, anonymously, with a switch in Settings. The Privacy Policy has the details.

Will a no contact app help me get my ex back?

No. Unbeatable Heart is built for the opposite: to help you stop needing them to come back.

What if my ex keeps contacting me, or I feel unsafe?

If your ex threatens you, won't stop contacting you, or you feel unsafe, this isn't about no contact any more. It's about your safety. Keep the messages, tell someone you trust, and reach out to the support lines on our support page.

Is a no contact app therapy?

No. The app isn't therapy, medical care or a crisis service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, call your local emergency number or a crisis line: 988 in the US and Canada, Samaritans on 116 123 in the UK and Ireland, Lifeline on 13 11 14 in Australia, 1737 in New Zealand.

Have it on your phone before tonight

The night you'll want to text your ex is coming. When it does, you'll have somewhere to put it.
